There has been an increasing interest in the subject of underrepresentation of women in computing related fields in the last few years. To alleviate this matter, several organizations have launched nationwide initiatives. In light of this, we decided to celebrate the great  gender diversity among the faculty and students in our department. At the same time, we hope to raise the level of awareness of this matter among the CSC community and come up with ideas to improve its current status.

 

 

With this purpose in mind, Women in Computer Science (WiCS) with the support of the CSC Department and Cisco Systems Inc. is organizing an event on

 

 

     Wednesday, April 11th

 

2 pm - 4 pm

 

at the Atrium in EB II

 

Come and enjoy your post lunch desserts and coffee with us !

 

 

We will be displaying posters and videos with statistics and information related to the status of this subject in our community. Attendees who fill out a questionnaire will be eligible to enter a raffle to be held at the end of the event where a few lucky winners will receive prizes such as an iPod.

 

 

We hope to see all the faculty, staff and student body at the event to show their support for a matter that is of importance to all of us.
