Membership

Pi Tau Sigma, being the Mechanical Engineering Society, is only open to students pursuing a Mechanical Engineering Degree. New members are elected and initiated twice during the academic year, once in the fall and once in the spring.

Undergraduate Qualifications

  • Top Quarter of Junior Class
  • Top Third of Senior Class
Graduate Membership
  • Undergraduate degree from a school not having a Pi Tau Sigma chapter
  • Recommendation from two Pi Tau Sigma faculty members
Initiation Process
  • Attend pledge meetings
  • Complete service project
  • Pass pledge test
  • Polish bent
  • Attend induction banquet
  • Pay lifetime membership fee

About Pi Tau Sigma

Pi Tau Sigma is the Mechanical Engineering Honor Society at NCSU.

"The object of this organization shall be to foster the high ideals of the engineering profession, to stimulate interest in coordinate departmental activities, to promote the mutual professional welfare of its members, and to develop in students of mechanical engineering the attributes necessary for effective leadership and the assumption of the responsibilities of a citizen in a democracy."
