Engineering Student Organizations Mailing Lists
Imagine that you want to send a letter to a group of friends, each receiving a personal copy. If the post office worked the way email list programs do, you would give the post office a list of your friends' addresses and your letter. The post office would make a copy for each addressee and then deliver them. What's more, when a friend replied, the post office would distribute it to you and to all your other friends. That's basically how email lists work.
Email lists make it easy for a group of people to have discussions or make announcements. Instead of sending a mail message to member of the group, you send it to an email address for the list. The message is then redistributed to everyone who subscribes to the list. Reading a list, then, is a matter of reading your email.
There are three college-level mailing lists for student organizations:
This list is an announcement-only list for disseminating information about changes to the Engineering Student Organizations website and online tools. Webmasters and officers of student organizations and other interested parties are invited to subscribe. This list is moderated--posting is restricted to the list administrators. Any confirmed email address can subscribe to this list.
This list is an announcement-only list for disseminating information about the Engineers' Council, an umbrella organization for all undergraduate student organization in the College of Engineering. Student, staff and faculty are invited to subscribe. This list is moderated--posting is restricted to the list administrators. Any confirmed email address can subscribe to this list.
This is a discussion list for members of the Engineers' Council. Only those students on the E-Council and their advisors are allowed to subscribe. Posting to this list is restricted to subscribed members but not moderated. You must be listed through E-SOAR as a member of the E-Council to subscribe to this list.
The university also maintains a mailing list for student organizations:
This list is for registered student organizations at NC State to use as a forum for sharing ideas and information. Any confirmed email address can subscribe to this list.
