ITE STUDENT CHAPTER -NCSU

The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) was created to help develop the potential of young transportation professionals and show how transportation engineers function in the real world. There are monthly meetings of the student chapter expose students to a variety of topics in the transportation field. ITE is a good foundation upon which to build a source of contacts that will be of immeasurable value after graduation. Student members attend state and national meetings and meet a good number of nationally known transportation engineers. In addition, the student chapter runs one of the statewide ITE meetings, which is a great experience.

Statewide and national, ITE offers several scholarships to student chapter members. Many scholarships come with a personal mentor for the student. Mentors provide invaluable contacts and help the students learn about the life of a transportation engineer.

Students considering the transportation field are encouraged to join the ITE student chapter early in their college careers, but it's never too late to join. From professional contacts, to scholarships, to new friends in your area of interest, ITE is a worthwhile investment.
