Student Scholarships
NCSU students have several HVAC specific scholarships available. Although you don't have to be a member of ASHRAE to earn one these scholarships, ASHRAE membership is a great way to show your interest in the field to the selection panel.
Scholarships are divided into two types: scholarships that require an internship and those that do not.
This $3,000 scholarship is available to 2nd semester freshmen, sophomores and juniors interested in the HVAC industry. It is funded by the NC Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors. The student must intern over the summer with one of the participating companies for at least ten weeks. Then, this company will recommend the student for one of the scholarship. Several scholarships are typically awarded each year. An application must also be submitted by April 30 to be eligible.
Bennie Bootle ASHRAE Scholarship
This $3,000 scholarship is available through the national ASHRAE Chapter for Region IV engineering students (NC, SC, GA). Students need to fill out an ASHRAE scholarship application and submit reference forms by December 1. ASHRAE has several other general scholarships available as well.
This $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to an NCSU ASHRAE member that is active in his/her chapter activities and best exemplifies dedication to ASHRAE and the HVAC industry. Dr. Manoel Gonzalez was a Professor in the NCSU Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department and long time advisor to the student ASHRAE Chapter. The Triangle ASHRAE Chapter sponsors this award in Dr. Gonzalez's name. An application form can be found by clicking on the link above. The form should be submitted to Dr. Terry and three references are not required.
